Each month in 2015, we will be celebrating the pit bull! MHS adopts out hundreds of pit bulls a year and love to show people how great dogs of this breed type can be. We will be featuring a different “famous” pit bull from history each month. Check out the introduction to our celebration of the pit bull from President and CEO Matthew Pepper.
A Pit Bull Terrier named Jumbo Red played “Grunt” in the 1983 film Flashdance. Grunt lives in a converted warehouse with Alexandra “Alex” Owens, who aspires to be a professional dancer.
Flashdance was the third highest grossing film in the US in 1983. Grunt/Jumbo Red demonstrated what faithful, well mannered companions pit bulls can be to people around the world!
